The beginning was Void; without light or darkness, without life or death. It was an endless Void that contained nothing besides the Egg of Life. It was in the middle of the Void and was a pinprick in the ocean that was the Void.

Within the Egg slept Styrfor, or the Sentient Being, who slumbered in peace until the Egg broke and Styrfor arose into the Void and gained true consciousness. He looked at the Void and saw the emptiness of it and that it was without definition. He created with his thoughts the Sun, a great Orb in the sky of Everlasting Fire. It shone brightly in the Void. Styrfor created the Moon, an Orb smaller than the Sun, but still great in size that shone with pale light reflected from the Sun. He created more Suns and called them Stars, for they were second to the Sun.

As he looked at his work, he saw that there was no firmament and that the Void still held nothing but light and darkness. Therefore, Styrfor created matter and brought forth a great body of matter that he called Styr, after himself. Now Styr was without definition and contained nothing in it or on it. Therefore, Styrfor brought forth great bodies of land and great bodies of water that he called oceans. As he looked, Styr changed dramatically. Great streams of molten earth spewed towards the Void and came down, forming terra firma on Styr. And water rushed forward cooling the molten matter forming the great continents and the small islands, and everything in between.

Now the great emptiness had definition. But as he looked upon the land itself, he saw that it was black and without definition. So he brought forth great mountains and lakes, hills and rivers, great plains and small streams. And Styrfor found beauty among it and said to himself that it was good. And from his thoughts, he created the great forests and the bushes, the flowers and the grass that spread throughout the land and filled it with even more beauty than before. But Styrfor realized that the plant life that he created stayed the same and never grew to a new beauty or moved pass the boundaries where they were created. So the idea of Time came and he saw that the plants died but gave new life, spreading their seeds across the land until it was abundant with plant life.

And he saw that it was good. But after awhile Styrfor realized that the land and water was overran with the plants that he himself created and that it rotted away uselessly. So he created the animals that walked on the land and the animals that lived under the water and the birds that flew in the sky with great wings that spread out from their bodies. And they ate the plants and each other, according to their own kind and nature. And Styrfor saw that everything had a balance.

The Moon balanced the Sun in the sky and the preying carnivore ate the gentle herbivore that ate the abundant plant life that ate on the rotting carcass of the carnivores themselves. And all was well. As he watched the life that he created he felt a new emotion. He pondered what it was as he watched Styr and after decades of watching he realized what it was. Loneliness. He was the only Sentient Being in existence and he longed for someone that could speak and enjoy Styr as much as he did.

And the Auels came to be. Beings that could think with reason and could speak to Styrfor with the same speech that he himself spoke to himself. They were as tall as the great bear that roamed Styr and had light wings like the birds that flew in the sky. They had faces that showed intellect and reason; something that neither bird nor beast on Styr showed before. They saw Styrfor and saw Styr and reasoned out with their intellect and saw who created them and all bowed down before Styrfor thanking him and loving him.

And Styrfor felt the love and he said to them. “Bless thee Auel for you are the first Sentient beings that I have created and are the highest beings of all that I will create. You shall do as you will but remember for I forewarn thee now: Do not interfere with the nature of Styr or any other world I might create. For if you do, the beings that I will create will rise up against you and eventually overcome thee, even if thee are stronger than they. But take heart, for you cannot die a mortal death, but live forever whether on Styr, for it was created for you, and you alone; or here with me, in the Void from which you were born.”

And the Auel left Styrfor and traveled across the Void; some went to Styr and saw what Styrfor created and lived there, creating homes in places that they took liking to. While others lived in the Void and just sat and watched.

And many animals’ seasons of Styr passed before Styrfor called out to the Auel to come to him. And like a great swarm of locusts, they came. From the rivers, the mountains, the forests, the lakes, and everywhere else they came and gathered around Styrfor.

“Look upon this tiny mound of earth, children of mine, for it will become a new world filled with other beings that will populate it.” And Styrfor took a large clump of Styr and carried it into the Void where he let rest in the vacuum of the Void. And the Auel watched with even more amazement as the small handful of Styr grew into a great world, alike with Styrfor with all its beauty and wonders, and they felt envy at the new world that was created for other beings.

“Now look…” Said Styrfor as he cut off a piece of his flesh and rubbed it together with his hands. He set it down on the new world and it grew into the first human. “These are my new creatures that will populate this world, this earth, for it came from the earth of Styr. Now, cut a piece of flesh from thy own and rub it. Put it on this new earth and new humans will come forth that will come from thee own flesh.”

And the Auel did, and more humans came forth. They were of varied colors, some pale as snow and other like golden sand. Some were males and other females, and all were looking at each other in their nakedness.

“Now watch this world as it fills with our humans that we hath just created.”
