“So, what does Chris have planned for tonight,” Rayne asked Allison as they
dressed after a sparring session at the gym.
“I have no clue,” Allison replied. “It seems so strange that we got together
over a month ago and yet tonight is our first official date.”
Rayne smiled. “Whatever it is I’m sure you’ll have a blast,” she said. “You and
Chris have an easy relationship.”
Allison nodded as she threw her things in her bag and followed Rayne out of the
women’s locker room at the gym. The ladies parted ways and Allison went home to
change for her date. She picked out an outfit and grabbed a shower.
Promptly at six Sabin rang the doorbell. Allison greeted him with a wide smile.
He took in her yellow flowered sundress and sandals and smiled. “Ready for our
first date,” he asked, holding out the crook of his arm for her.
She nodded. “I sure am. About time, huh?” Sabin chuckled. She simply smiled,
placing a kiss on his cheek as they headed out for the night.
They drove chatting about their day and the upcoming PPV. Allison didn’t pay any
attention to where they were headed until Sabin parked the car. She glanced
around and saw that they were at the beach.
“Beach date, huh,” she asked as he came around the passenger side and opened her
door. Once she was out and the door was closed he grabbed a basket and a blanket
from the trunk.
“Thought it would be nice and romantic,” he replied smiling. “You know with the
sunset casting all those pretty colors across the sky.”
“Why, Chris, I had no idea you were such a romantic sap,” she teased as they
walked hand in hand onto the sand. He chuckled and took her hand, leading the
way onto the beach.
Sabin led her to a spot he had picked out earlier in the day. It was near the
water, but not too close to the crashing waves. The sun was setting, painting
the sky shades of pink and purple. He quickly set up the blanket and began
setting up the picnic.
“This is beautiful, Chris,” Allison said smiling as she nibbled on the food he
had brought. She leaned into his side as she did so and he held her close with
one arm. They could feel a light spray from the waves crashing nearby and taste
the salty sea air. “Just the perfect night for a beach date.”
Just as she said those words a bolt of lightning flashed across the sky and
thunder boomed in the distance making her jump a mile. Sabin groaned seeing the
heavy storm clouds quickly filling the sky. “No,” he moaned.
As the words exited his mouth fat raindrops pelted the shore. The waves began
rolling more violently sending heavier sprays their way. “No,” Sabin moaned
again as the dinner he had so meticulously planned became waterlogged.
“Chris, come on,” Allison yelled. “Forget the dinner! We need to get out of the
rain.”
Sabin quickly scooped up the watered down meal with the blanket in a bundle as
they raced back to the car. He dropped the bundle in the trash not caring about
the now soaked blanket. He quickly opened the passenger door and rushed around
to the driver’s side of the car, slipping inside as the rain continued to beat
down.
They sat there breathing hard from the run and watched the rain come down in
sheets across the windshield. “So much for the romantic dinner,” he frowned.
Allison chuckled and he looked at her a bit hurt. “You tried, Chris,” she said.
“It’s not that tragic. You can’t control nature.” She looked at her sundress and
sighed. “I’m drenched.”
“So am I,” Sabin said seeing that the rain was letting up a bit. “My place isn’t
far from here. Why don’t we stop there for some dry clothes.”
Allison quirked a brow at him. “Trying to get me naked already,” she chuckled.
“I usually make a guy wait a couple of more dates for that.”
Sabin smirked. “Can’t blame a guy for trying.” She let out a low shudder. “Come
on, Ally. I can be a gentleman,” he said switching on the heater. “Come get some
dry clothes and maybe we can watch a movie and get a better meal than the water
soaked one sitting in the trash.”
“Sure,” Allison said holding her freezing hands to the heater.
Sabin smiled and drove them back to his place. He let her in and was instantly
embarrassed. The place was a mess and he snatched dirty clothes off the back of
the couch as they entered. Allison fought the urge to laugh.
“Please excuse the mess. It’s the maid’s day off,” he said blushing as he
snatched a pair of his underwear off the floor.
“I can see that,” Allison smirked.
“Clothes,” he said. “Clean, dry clothes.” He went into his bedroom and grabbed a
shirt and a pair of pants with a drawstring. “These will be kinda big on you,
but they should work. Bathroom’s through that way.”
Allison took the clothes and headed into the bathroom to change. She hung her
wet dress over the shower rod to dry. When she was dressed she headed in to see
what Sabin was up to.
He too had changed and was peering into the fridge with a frown on his face. He
looked up when he heard her coming his way. “Looks like I need to restock,” he
sighed.
“Take out works,” she replied with a shrug.
“Yeah, I guess. Pizza good?”
“Sounds great,” she replied going into the living room to see what movies he
had. Sabin placed the order and then joined her, watching as she picked up a
movie and popped it into the DVD player.
“What’d you pick,” he asked taking a seat on the couch.
“Spider-Man,” she replied.
“Cool. The pizza should be here soon,” he said.
“I figured as much. That’s why I picked something we’ve already seen. We won’t
miss anything when the food gets here,” Allison replied taking a seat on the
couch next to him.
They had just settled in to watch the movie when the doorbell rang. Sabin went
to get the pizza and brought it in, serving Allison her slice before settling
back in.
They ate in comfortable silence as Mary Jane and Spider-Man shared their first
kiss. With their bellies now full they then settled in for a couple of more
movies. It wasn’t long before Allison’s eyelids began to droop.
She let out a soft yawn and Sabin sighed, tiredly. He knew he should take her
home, but he was just too comfortable here on the couch. With a groan he sat up,
making her sit up too.
“I should probably drive you home,” he yawned.
“It’s awfully late and it’s still pouring out,” Allison sleepily replied. “Can’t
I stay here? You said you could be a gentleman.”
Her words woke him up. “Here? Right…gentleman…of course,” he rambled. “You can
take the bed and I’ll sleep out here on the couch.”
Allison shook her head, taking his hand and leading him into the bedroom. “You
can be a gentleman and get a good night’s rest,” she said crawling into bed and
pulling him with her. “That couch has got to be murder on the back.”
He chuckled and nodded, having fallen asleep on it one too many times to
disagree. He wrapped his arms around her, burying his face in her hair. “Night,
Ally,” he whispered, kissing her cheek.
“Night,” she replied and they were both out in a matter of seconds.
The next morning the doorbell woke Sabin. He found the bed cold and empty.
Sitting up he wondered if he had dreamed Allison spending the night. The
doorbell’s impatient buzzing pulled him out of his thoughts and he trudged out
of the bedroom to answer it.
As he passed the bathroom he heard the shower going and smiled. Allison had
stayed after all. He fought the urge to join her and continued on to the door.
He opened it and found Alex smiling at him.
“Good morning, buddy,” he sing songed. “So, how’d your first date with Ally go?”
Alex heard the shower turn off and smirked at Sabin. “You lucky dog!”
“Alex, grow up,” Sabin sighed in mock annoyance. “Our beach date got rained out
and she got soaked. I just loaned her some dry clothes.”
“And your bed,” Alex smiled.
“Yes, and the bed, but nothing happened,” Sabin replied. “Besides if it did…I
wouldn’t tell you, ya blabbermouth. A gentleman doesn’t kiss and tell.”
“Whatever,” Alex frowned.
“Hey, Alex,” Allison said coming out of the bathroom back in her sundress.
“Thanks for the loaners,” she said to Sabin. “I left them in the hamper.”
“Any time,” Sabin said as she walked over to him. “Want me to drive you home?”
“I think I’ll walk,” she replied smiling, giving him a kiss on the lips. “It’s a
beautiful day outside. See you later.” She kissed him again. “Bye Alex.”
Alex waited until she left and turned his attention back to Sabin. “Not even one
little detail?” Sabin shook his head no and set about tidying up his place. He
had a feeling that Allison was going to be by more often now. “DAMN!”
