Crazy Love
By Shelly

Phil Skye walked through the halls in the Impact Zone. It would be at least a half hour before his match against The Amazing Red and he had time to kill. He scanned the halls looking for one of the Knockouts.

He heard a blood curdling scream and smiled. He’d found her. Daffney. He’d been pining away for her for almost a year. Every time he convinced himself to tell her how he felt he chickened out.

Not today. He was going to march right up to her and tell her exactly how he felt. He made his way in the direction he heard the scream come from.

Before he could get to the door it opened, crashing into the wall behind it and Daffney rushed out, cackling maniacally. Dr. Stevie was close behind, expletives streaming from his mouth.

Phil cocked his head and watched the man chase the object of his affection a moment before he realized why the man was so upset. He couldn’t help chuckling. Stevie must have fallen asleep in his locker room. He was now sporting braided pigtails complete with neon pink bows at the ends.

Shaking his head Phil was about to follow the two when Red called to him. "Phil, we need to go over our match," he called.

Phil cast a glance in the direction Daffney had run and sighed. "Coming."

If anything Raven would protect her. Phil knew that the older man wouldn’t allow any harm to come to her. He was quite fond of Daffney for no other reason than she was extremely entertaining to be around.

By the time Phil and Red had finished going over what should happen in their match it was time for them to head out to the ring. They knocked off their match, wowing the crowd with high flying moves, and then Phil headed to the back. He was content to head off to shower and change when he saw Daffney sitting near the steps that led to the tunnel. She was texting someone back and forth and giggling.

"Hey, Daffney," he said approaching her.

"Hey, Phil," Daffney smiled up at him. "Great match with Red. You looked really good out there."

"Oh well," he chuckled nervously, blushing slightly.

"DAFFNEY," ODB yelled, shoving Phil out of the way. "You ready for our match, hooker?"

"Hell yeah, ho," Daffney replied with a laugh. "See ya later, Phil." With that she headed off with ODB.

"Yeah, see ya…later," Phil hung his head as he watched her go.

"What’s up, mate," Doug Williams asked clapping the younger man on the back.

Brutus Magnus followed Phil’s gaze and smirked. "I see. Doug, he’s into the crazy bird."

"Really," Williams asked, arching a brow at Phil. "Why?"

"What do you mean why," Phil exclaimed. "She’s hot as fuck and she makes me laugh."

"You’ve got odd taste." Brutus shook his head.

"Why not go after…Taylor," Williams asked pointing to where Taylor was stretching down the hall.

Just as he asked it Sabin crept up behind her and tickled her sides. Taylor squealed and spun around, wrapping her arms around his neck and kissing him.

"That’s why," Phil sighed.

"Good point," Brutus frowned.

"How about…Tara?"

"Yeah, not into chicks who think spiders make good pets."

"Let’s face it, Brutus," Williams said. "Our mate here is stuck on Daffney."

"And she has no idea," Phil sighed.

"Ah, don’t worry about it she probably has no idea where she is let alone who does and doesn't like her," Brutus said clapping Phil on the back. "Come on. Let’s watch your little lady in action."

Williams and Magnus brought Phil to their locker room. Big Rob was sitting in the corner reading a book. He looked up when the three men entered the room and nodded to them.

"Turn on the monitor, Rob," Magnus said.

"Our pal Phil has a little problem that he needs help with," Williams said as Rob turned on the monitor. Williams shoved Phil down into a chair. Rob marked his place in the book and set it aside.

"Seems our boy Phil here has a crush on that looney bird in the ring," Brutus said. "She doesn’t know how he feels though."

"It’s amazing she knows where she is, that one," Rob said.

"Hey! Watch it man. She might play a nutball on TV, but she’s sweet and beautiful and smart and…I’ll shut up now."

The three men just smiled a moment before chuckling.

"Look, Phil, all you have to do is tell her how you feel," Brutus said.

"Flowers help," Rob offered.

"But I have no idea what to say," Phil groaned.

"Just lay it all out on the line," Williams said. "Stop being a stupid git! Man up!"

"Doug, that’s not helpful," Rob scolded. "Phil, if you like her just tell her."

"Thanks for the advice, guys," Phil said standing. "I should shower and change."

"Good idea," Brutus called as the younger man heading toward the door. "Don’t want to be all smelly and sweaty when you pour out your heart."

Phil just shot him a look before exiting the locker room. Rob glared at Brutus a moment before smacking him upside the head. Williams just chuckled, shaking his head.

By the time Phil had showered and changed into his street clothes the show was almost over. He scanned the halls for Daffney, frowning when he didn’t see her. He made his way towards the women’s locker room to wait for her to come out.

He wasn’t waiting long when the door opened. Phil perked up as he saw someone coming out. When Tara exited he frowned. Not the Knockout he wanted to see at the moment.

"Hey, Tara," he called getting the raven haired Knockout’s attention.

"Hey, Phil," she smiled seeing him. "What can I do for ya?"

"Is Daffney in there?"

"No, sorry, hon. She left for the night."

"Oh," Phil replied, unable to hide his disappointment.

"Does she know how you feel about her," Tara asked.

He shook his head, frowning. "Is it that obvious?"

"Probably to everyone but Daffney," Tara chuckled. "I’d suggest trying the hotel, but I heard her telling Kong that she was going out with Raven and Stevie."

"Oh."

"Try her in the morning," Tara suggested. "Maybe bring her a coffee and cinnamon doughnut."

Phil smiled. "Good idea. Thanks, Tara."

"Anytime. Good luck!"

Bright and early the next morning Phil headed out and picked up his surprise for Daffney. Checking his hair and making sure he looked presentable he headed to her room. He checked his breath before knocking on the door. When the door opened much to Phil’s dismay Raven was there.

"The hell do you want," Raven demanded and then caught sight of the bag and cup in Phil’s hand. He reached out and snatched them from him. "You shouldn’t have, kid."

"They’re not for you," Phil exclaimed, jamming his foot in the door before the older man could close it. "They’re for…" Raven ignored him, taking a long sip of the coffee and chomping into the doughnut. "Daffney."

"Who was it, Ravie," Daffney asked. She then caught sight of Phil. "Hey you! What’re you doing here?"

Phil glanced at Raven who was licking crumbs from his fingers as he finished off the coffee. "I thought I’d bring you breakfast," Phil sighed. "But Raven beat you to it."

"That was sweet of you," Daffney smiled.

"Next time just black coffee," Raven said crushing the empty cup and belching loudly. "I don’t like the flavored shit and I prefer jelly doughnuts."

"I’ll make a mental note," Phil replied, rolling his eyes.

Daffney snorted at Phil’s comment and then yanked Raven down to her level by one of his braids. "You were a naughty boy, Ravie. Phil brought that for me not you. I’m gonna have to punish you."

"And on that note I’ll be going," Phil said, making a speedy exit. He tried to ignore the sounds of Raven getting his punishment. Once out in the hall he ran into Tara.

"Did she like her breakfast," she asked.

"I’m sure she would have if Raven’s fat ass hadn’t gotten to it first," Phil replied. "She’s in there punishing him now."

Tara saw his face and her heart went out to the young man before her. "She’s not dating Raven, honey. They’re just good friends. I doubt he’s even staying in the same room with her." Phil opened his mouth to talk, but she answered the unspoken question. "He crashes in her room sometimes when he’s too lazy to go to his own."

"Oh. Well…that changes things."

Tara laughed. "Don’t give up, Phil. Try to get her alone and tell her how you feel."

"Thanks, Tara," Phil said heading back to his room feeling much better after the pep talk.

On his way he ran into The British Invasion.

"Phil," all three men exclaimed, wide smiles on their faces.

"How’d it go with Daffney," Williams asked.

"Yeah, how’d she react when you made your big confession," Magnus asked.

"I didn’t get the chance yet," Phil replied. "She had left already by the time I showered and changed. This morning I brought her breakfast, but Raven intercepted."

"Bad luck, mate," Rob frowned and then smiled. "I have an idea that just might help."

"Lay it on me, big man."

"Go back to her room and ask if she’d like to ride to the show tonight with you. While you have her alone in the car you can say what you need to say."

"Rob, I could kiss you right now," Phil smiled. Williams and Magnus arched their brows at him. "But I won’t. You’re not my type, big guy."

Rob snickered. "Go on and get your lady love."

Phil rushed back to Daffney’s room and knocked. This time Daffney answered.

"You’re back!"

"Yeah, I have a question for you," he began. "Would you like to ride to the show tonight with me?"

"She has a ride," Raven said from behind her.

"Shut up! You’re still on my shit list, Ravie," Daffney yelled over her shoulder before returning her gaze to Phil, smiling wide. "I’d love to ride with you."

"Great. I’ll meet you down in the lobby later."

"Kay!"

She went back into her room and Phil turned to walk away, but found someone grasping his arm. He looked up and found Raven glaring at him.

"Can I help you, Raven?" He managed to pull his arm free.

"What are your intentions with Daffney," Raven demanded.

"None of your business, bird brain." He folded his arms across his chest, not intimidated by the older man’s glare.

Raven’s scowl slowly turned into a smile. "Yeah, you’ll be just fine with her. About time you found your balls."

"RAAAAAAVIE," Daffney called from the room.

"Coming, Daff, keep your damn panties on!" He smirked at Phil before heading back into the room.

"I don’t know whether to want to kill him or pity him," Phil muttered as he headed back to his room.

Later that afternoon Phil stood in the lobby waiting for Daffney. He held a bunch of flowers in his hand. The British Invasion caught his eye as they headed out and Rob saw the flowers. The bigger man smiled and gave him a thumbs up.

"Hey! Ready to go," Daffney asked and then spotted the flowers. "Are those for me?"

"Yeah," Phil replied handing over the flowers. "I didn’t know what you liked so I got you wildflowers."

"That’s so sweet," Daffney smiled, taking the bouquet from him. He held out his arm to her and she slipped hers through it, allowing him to lead the way out to his car.

"I must admit that I kinda had an ulterior motive for asking you to ride with me," Phil admitted as he held open the door for her.

If Daffney heard she showed no sign of it. She had her nose buried in the flowers even as she got into the passenger seat.

"Glad you’re really enjoying those flowers," he chuckled as he closed her door and jogged around to his side. "So, I wanted to tell you something while I had you alone," he said as he slid behind the wheel.

"What’d you want to tell me," Daffney asked, her words muttered as if she had something in her mouth.

When Phil looked at her he saw that she had a mouth full of the flowers. "What are you doing?"

"Snacking," Daffney replied swallowing hard. "Wow, those yellow ones are prickly."

"You’re not supposed to…nevermind," Phil sighed as he started up the car. The radio came roaring to life.

"I LOVE THAT SONG," Daffney exclaimed, cranking the volume up to max. Lady Gaga filled the car and Phil groaned. This was going to be the longest ride of his life. If she kept up with the music he wouldn’t be able to tell her what he needed to say.

They arrived at the arena twenty minutes later. He pulled into a spot and turned the car off, breathing a sigh of relief. He had cut off some Miley Cyrus song for which he was eternally grateful.

"Thanks for the ride, Phil," Daffney called getting out of the car before he could make it to her side to hold the door open. "And the flowers." Phil had just gotten out of the car and saw her rush off and jump on Stevie’s back.

Phil grabbed his bag from the backseat and headed into the arena, shoulders slumped. As he entered Magnus and Williams grabbed him and dragged him over to where Big Rob stood.

"Struck out, eh," Williams asked.

"I never got to tell her anything," Phil replied. "She was blasting the radio all the way here. Everytime I turned it down a song would come on that she loved and she’d crank it up."

"Tough break, mate," Magnus frowned.

"How’d she like the flowers," Rob asked.

"She loved them, but the yellow ones were prickly." All three men quirked a collective brow at him. "She ate them."

Brutus pulled a face. "She’s crazier than a bloody loon, that one!"

"Yeah. So everyone keeps saying," Phil sighed. "Thanks for your help, Rob, but I don’t think anything is going to change until I can get her alone." With that he headed off to his locker room.

"Poor sod," Williams sighed, shaking his head.

"Yeah. I mean…she’s way off her rocker, but she is pretty hot," Magnus agreed.

"Gentlemen," Rob said smiling. "I have an idea. I’ll be right back."

Magnus and Williams watched him. He approached Daffney, who was flanked by Stevie and Raven. They watched as the big man spoke to her. She smiled wide and nodded before he walked away.

"Oi, what’d you do," Williams called as the larger man came back to them.

"Something Phil will thank me for," Rob smiled.

Phil had changed for his match already and was just about to pull on his elbow pads when there was a knock at the door. He stood and answered it, surprised to find Daffney standing there.

"Daffney?"

"Hope you’re not busy," she smiled. "Rob said you needed to speak to me. He said it was important."

"I could just hug that big lug," Phil muttered. Daffney looked up at him confused. "Come on in." He stepped aside allowing her access. Once she was inside he closed the door and leaned against it.

"I have something I really need to tell you, Daffney," he said finally. "Please sit."

"All right. Phil, what’s up?"

"I’ve imagined this moment a million times, but I never imagined I’d be this nervous."

"Just say what’s on your mind," she urged him.

"I like you, Daffney. A lot. I’m…crazy about you," he finally confessed.

"I thought I was the crazy one," Daffney smirked.

"I’m serious. I think…I think I love you…insanity and all."

Daffney stood, standing before him. "Was that so hard," she finally asked.

"You knew?" She nodded. "But you never said anything."

"I may be crazy, but I still like the guy to make the first move," she laughed. "So, you’re crazy about me?"

"That’s what I said," Phil smiled.

Daffney smiled wide, the crazy look taking over her eyes, and launched herself into his arms. Phil caught her, his back hitting the door behind him. She wrapped her arms around his neck, throwing her head back and letting out an ear piercing screech. Phil grimaced, but held her tightly.

"Sorry," she chuckled once the scream was over. "Just have to do that when I get happy."

"I have no idea what you just said, but that's all right," Phil called, his ears ringing from the scream. He couldn't wipe the smile off his face.

"Just shut up and kiss me," Daffney laughed.

Phil smiled wide and lowered his lips to hers, capturing them. She melted into him, allowing him to deepen the kiss. She was practically purring by the time they broke the kiss.

In the hall Magnus, Williams, Stevie and Raven stood outside the door. They all had their ears pressed against the door when they heard the scream. When things got quiet they all smiled at each other.

"About time," Stevie smiled. Raven nodded.

"Tell us about it," Williams and Magnus replied.

Big Rob just smiled. He was happy that his friend finally got what he wanted.
